Safety Engineering Consultants

If you are working in safety assurance in the railway industry and you are looking for something genuinely different: here is your chance. Mage Consulting is a newly established consulting business looking to bring some more people along a journey of success. We strongly believe that in order to deliver best quality service to clients we need to attract the best consultants on the market.

So, what can we offer that is so fundamentally different from the rest of the market?

  • An opportunity for meaningful ownership of the company.
  • Complete transparency on wages.
  • Minimally restrictive employment agreements (we limit our non-competition clauses to the absolute minimum).
  • Competitive salaries that are regularly reviewed in light of market trends. There is no X% annual cap for us - it's all down to what you can contribute and what the market can offer.
  • Two days of company funded professional development per year. We will pay for your course / seminar (within reason) as well as for your time off.
  • Funding for membership of one professional body and fees associated with Chartership applications.
  • A company culture focused on quality rather than growth.

Who are we looking for?

  • You have at least two years of experience in the railway industry with a strong focus on safety assurance.
  • You have an outstanding reputation (within what is reasonable for your level of experience). You are known to be a person who always delivers the work.
  • You need little supervision and can strive in an environment with little to no structure.
  • You have good communications skills.
  • You are fluent in the most important engineering tool of our days: Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of other tools (Isograph Availability Workbench / Reliability Workbench, DOORS Classic / NG, Rational Teams Concert, ASCE, etc.) is a nice to have.
  • You are keen on taking an active part in business development.

Salary is dependent on the breadth of experience. The upper end of the scale for each grade is meant for a person whose experience is predominantly in rail safety assurance. All figures quoted exclude super.

  • Consultants (2-5 years of experience): $70,000 - $130,000
  • Senior Consultants (4-10 years of experience, can deliver safety assurance work with minimal supervision): $130,000 - $160,000
  • Principal Consultants (5+ years of experience, can lead safety assurance work): $160,000 - $220,000
  • Director: (7+ years of experience, can lead safety assurance work, manage teams and lead business development): $200,000+

All fee-earning staff have the option of company ownership as set out in our Employee Share Plan.

If you believe this is the next step for your career, please send your CV to careers@mageconsulting.com.au. A formal cover letter is not needed, but a brief summary on your motivations for choosing Mage would be appreciated in your email.

We are an equal opportunity employer and will also sponsor your visa if needed (given you meet the requirements of the Department of Home Affairs for a work visa). We do not accept unsolicited CVs from agencies.
